Abstract
Although many quantitative analyses by the natural science technique has been conducted as a method of acquiring useful knowledge in city planning until now, in order to understand a thought of people in connection with city planning, it becomes indispensable to use the hermeneutical methodology of interpreting a "Narrative". So, in this research, we described and interpreted the narrative of city planning as the method for the purpose of considering the agreement formation process turned to solution of a traffic problem for the "Transportation and urban planning" advanced in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture. In order to depict the narrative, we had some interviews with people concerned and attended some meetings and through synthesizing collected individual narration, the narrative of the whole city planning was constituted and our interpretation was performed. As a result, it was suggested that the basic agreement had been made for consideration of traffic problems, or the sharing of awareness of traffic lead from conservation of historic townscape was an important element it would make a progress in the creation of city traffic.
