Abstract
In this study, we analyzed how the elderly become accustomed to their circumstances and give up on going outdoors. It has been discovered that some of the elderly do not feel dissatisfied despite the fact that they are going outdoors less frequently than they hoped. This may be because they have given up on going outdoors after be coming accustomed to their adverse circumstances, or because they are facing health challenges. Those who relied on transportation provided by their family to go outdoors did not tend do feel dissatisfied despite being able to do so less frequently than they hoped. It was made clear that factors such as “acceptance of one’s incapacity for physical activity”, “becoming accustomed to one’s lack of desire for physical activity”, and “giving up on quality of life” contribute to the elderly becoming accustomed to their circumstances and giving up on going outdoors. The aspects of “becoming accustomed” and “giving up” are comprised of “Acceptance of one’s incapacity for physical activity” leading to “becoming accustomed to one’s lack of desire for physical activity” and “giving up on quality of life”, further leading to “becoming less likely to recognize priorities”.
