Abstract

An entropy maximization model has been developed as a method of estimating OD matrix from observed traffic flow data. In order to estimate the OD matrix by applying the model, we have to solve nonlinear programming problems, or nonlinear equations for the optimality condition. We apply the homotopy method which is known as an effective method for solving nonlinear equations. This paper proposes a stable solution algorithm for obtaining high-precision approximate solutions, by utilizing the structure of the entropy maximization problem and tracing the homotopy path effectively.
