Abstract

One of the measures to prevent accidents of the older driver is to refrain from driving, and the ultimate measure is to surrender driving license. However, it is difficult for those who are in rural areas to live without driving, consequently they rely on cars for their lives. Uenohara City, Yamanashi Prefecture, which has many mountainous areas, started a support program to use of public transportation for those who have surrendered their driver's license in 2019. We conducted questionnaires and interviews with people who registered for this support program, and extracted the mental process that lead to the driver's license surrendering. Applying the result, we conducted a survey on the attitude modification and confirmed the process works well on the aged people who consider the driver's lisence surrendering.
