Television Archives in Japan

Abstract

TV stations and Broadcast Library have preserved a large quantity of programs and audiovisual materials. Those programs and materials are invaluable assets which record various events worldwide. Now digitizations from a videotape and a film are being pushed forward. I report archives of NHK(Japan Broadcast Corporation), TBS(Tokyo Broadcasting Systems) and Broadcast Library to examples what is being performed about an exhibition, the use, utilization from the preservation of the archive contents. I report it to secure preservation and the open present conditions and the public nature of archive contents what is a problem.
