HINAGIKU is a portal site enables comprehensive search of records and reports of the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster. In cooperation and collaboration with various organizations, HINAGIKU acts as a national archive to collect, preserve and share the information of the earthquake. It is connected with 47 archives both in Japan and overseas, and enables users to search and access metadata of approximately 3.8 million records. During the seven years that followed the earthquake, HINAGIKU has been promoting collaboration with various agencies while also focusing on disaster prevention learning etc. This article presents overview of the acquisition of distinctive records for HINAGIKU and describes the issues coming to light.
