The Okinawa Archive Research Institute has been collecting 8mm films owned by citizens of Okinawa Prefecture, preserving and making them publicly available. In these 2 years, we have collected 83 hours of videos and made them available in CC-BY. In addition to web delivery, we have been actively developing collaborations through screenings, television programs, art events, etc., to increase awareness and work on new collecting activities. Looking back on activities over the past two years, I was able to confirm the importance of the 8 mm film as historical assets, and through the screening events and broadcasting of archived films, we could successfully enrich metadata of such video contents and extend the collecting activities for new videos.
