Abstract

The Battle of Okinawa that U.S. Army filmed, Okinawa for the occupied period that United States Civil Administration of Ryukyu Islands recorded, these films and photographs are archived in large quantities by Okinawa Prefectural Archives and TV stations in Okinawa. You can know present situation of Okinawa deeply after having followed the contemporary history of Okinawa from those archived films. Furthermore, it will become the base thinking about what kind of future of Okinawa will be build. I investigated it how an exhibition utilized films and the programs which collections of Okinawa Prefectural Archive and an open action, TV stations archived for 60 years and contents production. As a result, I was able to confirm power to bring about the new intellect that the archive produced, and to relate people to the community.
