Developing and Publishing Japanese Modern Textbook Digital Archive at Library of Education

Abstract

This paper describes a method to publish a digital archive of a collection held in a library, and reports a case study from "Japan Modern Textbook Digital Archive" at Library of Education, National Institute of Educational Policy Research. The paper describes a simple method to build category search function in the digital archive on top of OPAC system of the library. We discuss the following issues for a library to publish a digital archive in a persistent and sustainable way: Cataloguing of bibliographic data and inspections for the copyright status at the development phase, cooperating with other systems, linking from and to other systems, considerations for the data and system migration.
