Construction steel work is the practical skill to manufacture steel structures by using various processing methods, such as cutting, bending, drilling, assembling, welding and so on. It is an essential skill for supporting the development of the steel architectures, such as steel bridges and high-rise buildings and of the machine structures such as large-sized power generating turbines for power plants. Skills for construction steel work has been involved in the National Skills Competition for more than 50 years since the 1st National Skills Competition had been held in 1938. This article describes the introduction of the national competition of the construction steel work held in 2021 and its history since 1938.
