Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to verify positioning time can be reduced by not elevating arms in CT trauma pan scan retrospectively. Methods: 1,078 patients who underwent head CT scan and thracicabdminal contrast CT scan between January 2011 and December 2015 are subjected to retrospectively clinical study.Probability of survival (PS) measured by Trauma and Injury Severity Score (TRISS) method, elevating arms or not, Interscan delay time (IDT, the time from head scan finish to thracicabdminal scan start), was researched. IDT with elevating arms or not was compared. All patients were separated in 3 groups based on PS (moderate injury group was 1~0.5 PS score, severe injury groups was 0.49~0.25 PS score and very severe injury was 0.24~0 PS score). Median value with elevating arms or not was compared in each of 3 groups, too. Results: IDT with elevating arm was shorter than that with not elevating arm. About median value in 3 groups, Very severe group’s difference was 156 sec. It was the most difference in 3 groups. Discussion: We verified the positioning time with elevating arms or not in CT trauma pan scan. The positioning time for not elevating arms was significantly shorter than the positioning time for elevating arms, especially in very severe groups.
