Abstract

The Passive House (PH) standard certified by the Passive House Institute (PHI) in Germany is known as the world's top energy-saving and low-carbon houses, and 57 of them have already been built in Japan (as of October 2022). In this paper, the characteristics of the design specifications for these houses were analyzed using the Passive House database. As results, trends in wall, roof, and floor slab insulation were identified according to the climatic conditions. Approximately 30% of the buildings used solar thermal energy for domestic hot water supply. When the certified values for heating and cooling loads were met, the primary energy consumption tended to be much smaller than the certified values.
