This paper discusses intervention to family caregivers of the dependent elderly using our survey data. The impaired elderly persons need not only instrumental support but also emotional support to enhance their mental and social well-being. Most of primary caregivers of the impaired elderly is a family member. Providing instrumental support to the elderly causes major burden on family caregivers. In addition, the use of social services by family caregivers is still low. Thus the expansion of home-based instrumental supportive services for the elderly is recommended.
