This study found that seismic noise data in the frequency range of 1–2 Hz exhibited a similar trend to the simulated discharge of river channels that are close to Hi-net stations in the Abukuma and Naka River Basins. and river discharge data for mountainous areas of river basins, river discharge estimation using seismic noise data is a promising technique and may also be applied to adjust missing hydrological data of any flood event. Estimating the river flow of river points based on this indirect approach is important for flood disaster prevention and management during heavy rain events in the mountainous regions of Japan. We may be able to monitor real-time river discharge using seismic noise recorded at nearby stations.
