Recently, science-based targets for nature (SBTN) has provided initial guidance for companies to set science-based targets, enabling companies to align their efforts with global nature-related sustainability efforts, including the water sector. A region-wise assessment is needed to evaluate the effect of industrial water intake on downstream water availability. Therefore, in the present study, we assess the impact of industrial water withdrawal on downstream water availability by conducting a series of conceptual simulations based on the actual scenarios in the Nong Khae Industrial Estate in the Pasak River of the Chao Phraya River Basin, Thailand, using the Cumulative Abstraction to Demand (CAD) index by employing H08 hydrological model. The results revealed that the presence of an industry largely affects the water availability at the industrial location and downstream regions due to the extraction of large amounts of water. Therefore, defining a withdrawal threshold is necessary to limit water usage.
