This paper is based on the experiments conducted by extracting about 200 pine rootstocks grown up in volucanic ash soil with a view to ascertaining the possible effects of the difference of the root-types on the time required in the mechanical extration. As a result, it was found that in extration of the fine rootstocks measuring 32-42cm. in diameter using a BF type Rake-dozer (16t), the time required for lateral rootstock was 55-64% compared with that for orthotropic rootstock.
