Digital Transformation (DX) is being implemented across various companies, and research on
DX spans multiple perspectives. However, the specific circumstances, changes and challenges faced by
managers remain unclear. This study aims to clarify how DX has impacted the workplace and
managerial works within Japanese companies. The research employs a single-case study approach
through interview-based investigations. The findings reveal that DX has significantly altered the nature
of managerial work in Japanese firms. Consequently, Japanese companies engaged in DX may find it
necessary to reconsider the dynamics and structure of workplace teams.
