The outcome of PFC (press fit condylar) total knee arthroplasty was evaluated five years and three months (average) after surgery in 16 patients (22 knee joints) with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) . No patellar resurfacing was conducted on any of the patients, while cement was used for tibial fixation in 16. The results were evaluated based on the JOA criteria RA scores and X-ray images. Satisfactory results were obtained in all cases. This shows that good results can be ob-tained without patellar replacement (which may produce complications) if the procedure is per-formed while tracking the patella during surgery.
