Experience in the Treatment of Acquired Dermal Melanocytosis Using the Fractional Q-Switched Ruby Laser

Abstract

Acquired dermal melanocytosis (ADM) is a skin condition that can be effectively treated with Q-switched lasers. However, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, a common side effect of irradiation, can be problematic. The use of Q-switched ruby laser irradiation with a fractional handpiece can mitigate post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, resulting in a shorter downtime compared to conventional treatments. However, it is important to note that the number of treatments required for colour improvement may increase with this approach.
