Abstract
Sixteen patients with glioma were treated by HPD-argon PDT. All patients underwent a partial or subtotal removal of the tumor, followed by PDT 72 hours after intravenous injection of 5mg/kg of HPD. The radiant energy exposure was 243-1564 joules/cm2·sec. During PDT a total of 10-25mg of HPD was locally injected into the residual tumor in all patients. It was suggested that energy exposure was under 311 joules/cm2·sec and residual volume of the tumor was large in the recurrence of the tumor within the exposed area.
