The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of YAG Laser irradiation on the motor nerve conduction of median nerve.
Studied were 3 groups; Group I (n=15) healthy subjects; Group II (n=8) patients with median nerve disorders; Group III (n=12) control. Motor nerve conduction studies were performed, Group I and II receiving YAG Laser irradiation (90mW, 4mm diameter beam spot, 15′) on median nerve just proximal to wrist crease.
Some in Laser Group showed decreases of amplitude, but no case in Group III (control). That change seemed one of effects of Laser Irradiation.
Investigation of some cases showed increase of amplitude or changes of latency were also effects of Laser irradiation.
No significant difference was noted between Group I and II.
