Abstract
The evaluation of arteriosclerosis progression has an important implication for the prophylaxis of cardiac and circulatory diseases. The arterial system is described as a tree structure, and the arterial hemodynamics is affected by the structure and physical properties of arterial system. The arterial pulse waveforms are determined by these components. The pulse wave velocity(PWV) is one of the non-invasive assessment measure of arteriosclerosis. In PWV measurement, progression of arteriosclerosis is evaluated by time difference of the propagation between two points. Since PWV assumes that arterial system to be simple cylindrical tube, it is hard to extract spatial information of whole arterial system. To extract spatial information, we made the numerical analysis using the one-dimensional blood flow model, which simulates hemodynamics of whole arterial system. The results suggest that the hemodynamics of whole arterial system can be reproduced from the change of the blood pressure waveform of the extremity.
