Abstract
The purpose of this study is to confirm the safety of photodynamic therapy for arrhythmia therapy. To reveal the injury of peripheral nerves after extracellular photosensitization reaction, we investigated the uptake of talaporfin sodium in rat schwann cell (Figure 1) and cell lethality after the photosensitization reaction. The cell lethality was measured after the photosensitization reaction under 15, 65 mmHg, corresponding to in vivo PO2, and 155 mmHg. The result implies that there's little talaporfin sodium uptake in a schwann cell and peripheral nerve injuries might not occur under about 5 J/cm2 or less radiant exposure with in vivo PO2.
