In this study, a new process was suggested and developed for preparation of CMB catalyst from spent lithium ion battery scrap. From the loaded organic containing cobalt and manganese, the behavior of stripping with HBr solution was investigated. All of cobalt and manganese were stripped with 1.5M HBr at O/A=2. The McCabe-Thiele diagram could be estimated 99.9% cobalt stripping in a 2 stage counter-current operation with O/A of 7. The stripping of the loaded organic phase with 1.5 M HBr produced a solution of 47.5g/L Co, 1.0g/L Mn, 142g/L Br from which could be used for aqueous CMB catalyst by compensation with cobalt and manganese salts.
