Simulated waste-derived syngas has been tested for hydrogen production through high temperature shift (HTS) reaction over metal oxide incorporated Fe/Al catalysts. Despite the high CO content in the feed gas, Cu incorporated Fe/Al catalyst exhibited the highest CO conversion and 100% selectivity to CO2 at a very high gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of 40,057 h−1. The higher activity of this catalyst in HTS is mainly related to the synergy effect of Cu, resulting from easier reducibility and higher stability of Fe3O4.
