To prevent residual vibrations of a flexible structure in positioning control, an acceleration input pattern without natural frequency components of the structure is preferred. Most of the window functions used in signal processing have good properties as their higher order frequency components are small. In this paper, advantages of window-function-shaped acceleration patterns are clarified by numerical simulations of a theoretical model for open loop positioning control. Some of the patterns can make the amplitude of residual vibration infinitesimal and they are robust over the variation of system parameters.
