A volumetric efficiency of reciprocating engines can be improved by fluid dynamic effects in a suction pipe line. An experiment was carried out by using a test apparatus where one cylinder of a real engine connected by a simple inlet pipe was used. Pressure and volumetric efficiency were measured at the operating speed range of 1000 to 4000rpm, and compared with the calculated values by the method previously reported. It is shown that the both are in good agreement qualitatively if the calculation data are reasonably chosen.
