The acoustic power radiated from the vibrating components of the high speed diesel engine such as the crankcase and gear case was examined by use of the boundary element method (BEM). It was discussed an increment of the radiated noise from the front side of the engine block due to the radiated noise from the vibrating pulley installed at the front end of the rotating crankshaft. Moreover, a simplified method was offered to determine the acoustic radiation power of the engine block using the acoustic radiation efficiencies of the engine block's eigen mode. Its validity was confirmed through the comparison with the precise BEM calculation.
