In recent years, railway vehicles are becoming lighter since it corresponds to improvement in the running speed. However, this causes the deterioration of the body rigidity, and leads to the increase in a vertical bending vibration of the body. In addition, the deterioration of riding comfort concerns to this issue, because the natural frequency of the 1st bending vibration and inverse phase vibration overlaps with human's uncomfortable sensitive frequency band. The objective of this research is to reduce these bending vibrations of full-scale vehicle by stack type piezoelectric actuators and to investigate the influence of the local deformation by larger size actuator.
