In this paper wiping motion of the wiper blade is studied. First, the experiment was conducted with actual wiper systems to observe the phenomena during the wiping motion including reversal behavior. Second, the multi-degree-of-freedom spring-mass analytical model, which essentially characterizes the wiper systems, was developed from the observation. Then, the equations governing the wiping motion including the reversal behavior of the wiper system were derived from the viewpoints of the multibody dynamics. Finally the dimensionless governing equations were solved numerically and discussed about it.
