Bump foil journal bearings are prospective applicants that can support a small-sized high-speed rotating machinery. The authors have shown that the detachment and attachment of top foil have a small effect on the maximum load carrying capacity of the bearing with a base specification of the design variables. In this report the capacity in the cases of other design variables is presented. It is found that their effect on the capacity could be large in the case of a larger value of the rigidity of top foil when a friction does not act between the top and the bump foils.
