The quietness of mechanical products is an important product value, and structural design considering noise and vibration in the early stages has become even more important. Then this paper discusses feasibility of structure layout design method by using Analytical Statistical Energy Analysis (ASEA) for vibration reduction. First, in order to perform the layout design, devise and verify the calculation method. This calculation method is that to remaining the ILF of the subsystem in the loss factor matrix and allow the CLF to 0. Then the optimization procedure is carried out to find a lowvibration layout structure by using ASEA in which coupling loss factors are theoretically evaluated. Next the optimized structure is tested to confirm low-vibration design by using FEM calculation. Also subsystem energy in FEM of the optimized structure are evaluated to be compared with those in ASEA. From the optimized structure, following remarks are obtained, (1) the thickness of the target subsystem to be reduced is the maximum allowable thickness within constraint. (2) The thickness of the subsystem other than the target subsystem is the minimum allowable thickness. (3) disconnect the shortest vibration propagation path from the input subsystem to the target subsystem; it is most effective to reduce the subsystem energy of target subsystem, (4) decimating the number of vibration propagation paths from the input subsystem to the target subsystem, it is possible to reduce the subsystem energy of the response subsystem. Further, the phenomenon of fluctuation of the optimization result was studied from the viewpoint of ILF and frequency.
