This paper deals with vibration damping analysis using finite element method with Model Strain Energy Method for a plate with a crater type acoustic black hole. The acoustic black hole has residual plate thickness. The 3Dmodel were created by using 3DCAD software and the 3D model was made into a finite element model using analysis modeling software called HyperMesh and then analyzed using FEM with Model Strain Energy Method to calculate the resonant frequency and mode loss coefficient for each mode. We calculated resonance frequencies and modal loss factors in each mode. For comparison, we also prepared a crater type acoustic black hole with no residual plate thickness. Effects of residual plate thickness on vibration damping properties were investigated. As a result, those having a residual plate thickness had a higher overall damping effect than those without residual plate thickness, and a very high attenuation effect could be obtained, especially in the high frequency range.
