In this paper, we consider a procedure of estimating excitation force and its applied positon for mechanical structures. By applying the input estimation method using the convolutional form of the impulse response function, good input position estimation results are obtained for the multi-degree-of-freedom system and the cantilever beam. The input estimations are performed at multiple observation points for arbitrary excitation candidate positions. The inputs estimated at each observation point are compared by using an error index, and the effectiveness of the index for determining the excitation position is shown.
