In recent years, acoustic metamaterials have been attracting attention as a noise control measure, and various studies have been conducted. They are structures with artificially adjusted characteristic values that contribute to the propagation of the sound. In this study, we devise an acoustic metamaterial with a simple structure that can significantly change the sound propagation characteristics. We fabricated a metamaterial consisting of an array of solid cylinders and investigated the transmission characteristics of incident sound waves propagating through the material both by the finite element analysis. As a result, the insulation effect on sound waves by the material was observed. It was also found that the insulation effect depended on the fill rate and diameter of the cylinder.
