In recent years, facilities that attract a large group of people (leisure facilities), typified as amusement facilities became diversified as leisure industry diversified in various fields. In Japan, since the opening of Tokyo Disney Land in 1983, main players of amusement facilities have shifted from traditional simple "amusement parks" to "theme parks" that have been built around various different themes. The term "theme park" refers to facilities that collect entertainment attractions that built around specific themes, and usually have adjacent museums, hotels, and commercial facilities in the same area to attract more people. Similarly, "rides" in amusement parks have evolved to "attractions" that provide more thrills with entertaining presentations. This report states study results about safety of these ride systems and related codes to evaluate technical trends of amusement rides and devices.
