In this paper, we investigated the stop situation of elevator after the main shock of the Great east Japan Earthquake, based on the report by the observer in the central monitoring room, for the super high-rise residential buildings built in the Kanto region. Furthermore, we conduct a questionnaire survey on residents of the building to analyze the tendency of residents' psychological condition and indoor damage during the earthquake. The following conclusions were reached; (1) The time required for the restoration of the elevator after the earthquake varies widely depending on the building, requiring seven to eight hours for some restoration, and in some cases it took more than 20 days to fully restore. (2) During the main shock of the Great East Japan Earthquake, action difficulty of residents and overturning ratio of furniture were high at the higher floor. (3) There were many residents who felt uneasy about the stop of the lifeline such as electricity, water supply, and elevator during the future earthquake rather than the earthquake resistance of the living building. (4) It is important to deal with the earthquake in the functional aspects of the super high-rise residential building.
