The purpose of this report is to evaluate the performance of a system that combines a water-cooled chiller for data centers and a heat pump for heating using the exhaust heat from the chiller, assuming variations in outdoor air temperature and heating demand in an office building during a typical day in January in Tokyo. Specifically, a mathematical model of the water-cooled chiller and air conditioner was developed and numerical simulations were performed to analyze the characteristics of the system when the exhaust heat was used to meet the outdoor air temperature and the heating heat demand. As a result, COP and energy consumption with and without exhaust heat recovery are quantitatively clarified.
