We have been developing a disk type motor for an electro hydraulic total artificial heart (EHTAH) to miniaturize it. The prototype motor was designed to generate an output torque of 0.1. Nm with an input current of 1 A. Thickness of the prototype motor is 35 mm. Performance of the prototype motor was evaluated by measuring the torque, rotating speed and input power. An output torque of 0.1Nm can be generated within the range of 800 to 1400 rpm. Maximum efficiency was 61.4% at a load of 0.16Nm with the rotating speed of 1200rpm.The prototype motor may reduce the thickness of the electrohydraulic actuator by about 10 mm.
