It is very important to know surface temperatures on gear teeth in operation. However, measuring surface temperatures on gear teeth in operation is difficult. In this paper, by the dynamic thermocouple and combined lacked gear, the experiment which measures surface temperatures on gear teeth during high surface pressure with the dissimilar hardened gears was performed. In the dynamic thermocouple, we generated thermoelectromotive forces by using the plasma carburized SUS316 (Stainless steel) gear and the induction hardened S55C (Carbon steel) gear as the gear pair. The plasma carburized SUS316 gear was combined lack gear which consists of two gears alternately lacking teeth and insulating plate. We made it possible to the experiments with high surface pressure by processing crowning to plasma carburized SUS316 gear. As a result, the experiments were operated on maximum condition of contact pressure 1.46GPa in a pitch point.
When we compared the experimental values using the formula of BLOK and theoretical values, surface temperatures on gear teeth values were largely the same.
