The carbonized rice hull (RHSC) powder was added into polyacetal to make injection molded plastic helical gears. The endurance test was carried out under no lubrication. The test gears were operated at a constant transmitting torque and a rotational speed until broken. The bulk temperature and noise of test gear were measured during operation. In addition, the tooth damage was investigated, and the numerical simulation was performed by FEM solution in stress analysis. From the experimental results and discussions, it seems reasonable to conclude: (1) The tooth surface damage was different by median grain diameter of RHSC powder. (2) Since the tooth thickness was thinned by wear, the tooth breakage occurs above the immediate pitch point. (3) The median grain diameter and dopant ratio of RHSC powder has suitable amount to improve the polyacetal gear. (4) Test gears became long fatigue life by adding the RHSC powder.
