This paper describes the traction charasteristics of friction drive with polyimides which are filled some graphite. Friction drive doesn't need oil for lubrication because of its self lubrication. So, by this device, we can get traction coefficient high and load presuure low. Hence, mechanical characteristics is very important factor to choose plastics for friction drive. So, we picked up polyimide and graphite filled polyimide which has good mechanical and thermal properties. It is well known that by forming transfer film on counter face, polyimide shows low ware rate, but there are few reports about friction drive and its traction charasteristics with transfer film. So, in this paper we report traction characteristics of polyimide and graphite filled polyimide by the slip displacement model in contact area.
