This paper deals with the risk analysis of occupational accidents in various industrial sectors in Japan. The major concern on occupational accidents involves the frequency of accidents and the damage consequence due to accidents. The Questions we attempted to solve in this study are 1) to analyze the present occupational accident situations based on the various accident data. And 2) to identify statistical features of occupational accidents in terms of the frequency and magnitude relationship from the view point of risk/safety management. From the analyses, it was identified that the past effort toward improving in accident situations, decreasing in the number of accidents in particular, have attained substantial success. However, there has not been any significant improvement in the damage consequences of accidents, which in tum threatens the accident compensation insurance system.
