Modelling of Zero-velocity Point Removal in Polishing

Abstract

Preston's law is widely accepted as an equation that expresses the linear time-dependency of removal depth in polishing process. In this study, it is experimentally found that Preston's law does not necessarily hold at a point where the tool's peripheral speed is zero, and a revised model is discussed.
