Roughly of the machined surface and the artificially produced groove and step were evaluated by the finger. As a result, it has been understood that the texture on the machined surfaces can be expressed by the roughness display map of each angle of the surface. Moreover, the tip of a finger could be detected for the step up to 0.5 microns perpendicular to the step and 1000-1600 microns parallel to the step, and that for the groove 1000-1600 microns perpendicular to the groove 1600-2700 microns parallel to the groove. That is, it was clarified that the sensitivity was 1000 times or more slower at intervals of the groove compared with the step.
