In this paper, experimental and numerical considerations were made in order to clarify the thermal deformation mechanism. In the experiment, using several kinds of materials and plate shapes, we observed the bending deformation of the plates during localized heating by TIG welding. It was fonud that all plates were deformed into convex shapes on non-heating side. Thermo-Elasto-Plastic analysis in terms of FE program made by ourselves was also carried out and the thermal stresses and deformations were calculated. The calculated residual shapes of plates were not in good agreement with experimental results in the present stage.
