In recent researches of tactile display, there is no device to present a stimulus on fingertip caused by relative movement between fingertip and object's surface. In this paper, we propose the wheel type tactile display that can presents the stimulus caused by movement of contact points on fingertip. There are two stimuli when fingertip skimming object's surface: the quasi-stationary stimulus by relative movement and the transitional one by object's surface roughness. In wheel type tactile display, the rotational rate and the modulation of rotational rate simulate those stimuli, respectively. Our goal is to find the correspondence relation between presented stimulus and sensation. In this paper, the basic properties of the device are described.
