In this study, theoretical and experimental studies of electrostatic separation of plastic mixtures were conducted. The separator consists of four cylindrical electrodes. The principle of the separation is based on the difference between Coulomb forces acting on plastic particles. The separation of a mixture of polyethylene(PE) and polypropylene(PP) particles was studied. All particles were obtained from shredded cap of plastic bottle. An analytical solution based on the charge distribution for particles is presented. It is show that the approach in this study is effective for estimating the recovery of plastics.
