This study aims to clarify effects of machining conditions for wire electric discharge on machining speed and machined surface integrity. These results are related to develop the electric conductive ceramics as forms, which possess excellent mechanical properties. These also contributed to the optimum condition for wire electric discharge machining for electric conductive ceramics. Electric conductive ceramics plane plate, which was manufactured by Nippon Tungsten LTD, used for this experiment. Each average machining speed measured under each wire EDM condition as electric conductive ceramics plate was cut in 9mm straight. Each worked surface of the plate was applied for SEM observation and surface-roughness evaluation. Experimental results showed that effects of wire EDM machining conditions on average machining speed and surface roughness of ZrO2-WC. Machining speed decreases with increase of the periodic time. It also rises with increase of pulse duration and Duty Factor. It appears that roughness on worked surface depends on Duty Factor.
