Recently, air-bone type wind turbines which can fly in the sky and use high-speed wind at high altitude to generate efficiently, have attracted considerable attention. Our research team is developing new-type air-bone turbine which is a Kite Wind-Power Generator (KWPG) with space tether technology. This system consists of a wind turbine floated in the sky by a kite and an electrical generator installed on the ground, and the power of the wind turbine is transmitted to the generator by tether revolution. Merits of this system is to be able to reduce the weight of floating body by installing the generator on the ground and generate efficiently and continuously by the tether. We propose using a straight blade wind turbine for this system. This paper presents about aero-elastic characteristic experiment of wind turbine blades in wind tunnel and performance calculation of straight blade wind turbine by the aero-characteristics.
